A passenger-only ferry linking downtown Vancouver to Vancouver Island moved a step closer to being a reality Tuesday after the City of Nanaimo approved a terminal site for the proposed service.
Included in Island Ferries Services’s 20-year lease agreement with Nanaimo is a provision that the downtown-to-downtown foot ferry service must be operational by March 31, 2015.
